His life in a shambles, alcoholic screen writer Ben makes a final decision: He wants to take his life in Las Vegas by drinking himself to death. Drunk, he hits the prostitute Sera on his way to the vibrant city. Soon, they fall for each other and find short-lived happiness under the prerequisite that his alcoholism and her earning a living are not to be questioned. And yet, however strong their love might be, their personal circumstances soon catch up. Does the couple stand a chance?
Based on the autobiographical novel by John O’Brien, Nicolas Cage and Elisabeth Shue deliver a heartfelt, realistic portrait of destruction by alcohol.
